Is DTS Worth It?

“Is DTS worth it?” is a question people often ask, and one I used to try to answer. I would list every part of DTS that seemed valuable: the things you learn, the places you travel, the experiences you get from YWAM that no other program could offer. But eventually, I realized that what a student gains from DTS was never meant to be measured on the same scale as the earthly things I was trying to compare it to.

The value of DTS can’t be quantified, compared, or defined the way the world defines value. The world teaches us that something is “worth it” if it leads to more money, a better title, higher status, security, or material success. But DTS centers itself around things that often can’t be seen or measured at all: obedience, surrender, intimacy with God, transformation, and faithfulness to wherever He calls you.

That kind of growth can’t be weighed against money, time, or worldly achievement because it reaches beyond temporary things and into eternity. DTS is not about building a résumé or chasing success by the world’s standards. It’s about pursuing the Lord wholeheartedly and allowing Him to shape your life in ways you may never be able to fully explain.

So, is DTS worth it? If you’re looking for worldly results, maybe not. But if you’re willing to let God deepen your faith, transform your heart, and lead you into greater obedience to His calling, then its value becomes far greater than anything words or numbers could ever capture.
